Godrej & Boyce entered its 126th year on the 7th of May 2022, our Foundation Day. Serving consumers as well as the nation, as a business, for 125 years is remarkable, indeed. This exemplary journey has been marked by several intentional renewals that have shaped and reshaped us for a better fit with the prevailing environment as well as the times that lie ahead. Momentous occasions such as these are great for pausing and thinking about our role in the world and what new direction it should take. On the 6th of May, 2022, our new Purpose, Vision, Mission and Values (PVMV) were announced to all our employees in a live broadcast by Mr. J.N. Godrej, Anil Verma and Nyrika Holkar.
Understanding and embedding the PVMV across our people and our processes will bolster our foundational strengths – strengths that matter most for making a real, valuable difference in the chaotic, uncertain world that we live in. The transcripts of their speeches have been reproduced in this issue. In addition, Nalini has written about the elaborate process and effort that went into arriving at our new PVMV. A Virtual Tour of Godrej Archives was launched by Dr. Mrs. Pheroza Godrej to mark our 125th anniversary on the 6th of May 2022. Her message on the occasion and an article that tells us how this Tour was designed and developed is presented by Shweta and Bismita. You will also find a few stories about the new beginnings made that in many ways complement the PVMV.
The article on our Khalapur manufacturing complex showcases renewal in action. The pieces on additive manufacturing and the effort made by our Tooling business to participate in making dies for EV components point to our adaptability. To serve a new generation of consumers, our kitchen solutions have evolved over the years, as can be seen in Vaishali’s article. The Godrej Value Co– creation Club of Godrej Locks is a strong example of how we can collaborate effectively with influencers. Read and see what you can learn from it. The menace of plastic waste in our cities and towns needs to be tackled with systemic solutions – Tejashree helps us understand how.
Among our general interest articles is a review of the latest offering from Amar Chitra Katha – the interesting and inspiring story of how Ardershir and Pirojsha Godrej, true Pioneers of Progress, went about helping build a self-reliant India while also laying the foundation for one of India’s most trusted brands – Godrej.
